Places To Go
From our central location the history of the region and endless places of extraordinary natural beauty can be explored with ease. Castle Howard; location for Brideshead Revisited (above), Duncombe Park, Whitby, York, Helmsley, Robin Hoods Bay, WWII museum Eden Camp, Riveaulx Abbey and Fountains Abbey are all within an hours drive. The North York Moors steam railway runs accross the Moors from Pickering, passing through Goathland - the location for the ITV series Heartbeat - and stopping in Grossmont, where you can catch a train to Whitby. The valleys of the North York Moors themsleves offer a uniquely beautiful and tranquil experience for visitors. A little to the West is the "Herriot Country" of the Yorkshire Dales.

Things To Do
If you're looking for more active ways of soaking up the history and scenery, try some of the following. Nearby activities include horseriding, hill-walking, mountain-bike riding and golfing. The coast to coast walk is famous among serious walkers and the route passes right by the village of Rosedale. However serious you intend to be, you can find the details of many walks in the moors and valleys of the National Park and maps showing the routes when you visit us. If you're looking for a little more excitement for you and your children, then Flamingo land Zoo and Adventure Park is only half an hour away.
